This introductory class is designed for beginners or as a refresher to the process. You will learn how to identify different brain states that hijack your ability to move forward, and experience powerful meditational tools that can reverse that process. You’ll get hands-on experience in the Neurosculpting® modality of meditation and brain entrainment to see if this process is right for you.
The Neurosculpting® practice is designed to help you prime your brain for optimal engagement. This is the standard induction for ALL Neurosculpting® meditations. As a stand-alone meditation this is great for quieting the fight-or-flight response and bringing exercise to your higher-level executive attention centers. It’s simple, direct, and very powerful.
In simple terms, Neurosculpting® is a 5-step meditation process that can strategically help an individual release the grip of old patterns and entrain their brain to create new and more supportive patterns, habits and behaviors.
The year is 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt is at his family estate in the Hudson Valley where is reacquainted with his distant cousin Margaret “Daisy” Suckley, who’s suppose to be helping the president relax before the arrival of the King and Queen of Britain. The aid of Daisy soon becomes much more as the two start a love affair. As the Royal couple comically attempts to deal with the President’s mediocre arrangements, Daisy comes to discover there is another side of Roosevelt’s life at a time when the world is about to enter one of the largest and most horrific wars its ever seen.

Exhibits
The home designs of architectural couple Cuthbert and Christine Salmon will be featured in an exhibit in the lobby of the State College Municipal Building from January 3 through February 27, 2013 (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). The exhibit is sponsored by the Centre County Historical Society as an ongoing part of its documentation of midcentury modern homes by area architects. Photographs are by Society member Robert Malcom.
The Salmons were professors at Penn State and maintained their practice from 1947 to 1959, when the couple left for Cuth to become Professor and Head of the School of Architecture and Applied Arts at Oklahoma State University. Chris became the first women mayor of Stillwater and was named to the Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fame.
The couple’s designs were eclectic and had the Wrightian influence of the other mid-century designers of the era, with low-sloping roofs, many large windows, and open floor plans. The made heavy use of exposed concrete block in their designs, which they often stacked vertically rather than in the usual staggered layers. Chris’s appointment was in the School of Home Economics as they could not share departments at the time. They benefitted from several commissions from professors in the College, including Grace Henderson, the first woman dean at Penn State.
Concurrently Penn State’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture will be announcing transfer to the internet of the Society’s exhibits of contemporaneous architects William Hajjar, Philip Hallock, and Kenneth Heidrich, sometimes known at “The Three H’s.” There will be an exhibit featuring there architects in the Special Collections Library at Penn State’s Paterno Library. Photo exhibits of these and other local architects may be viewed at Penn State’s Architecture Library and the Schlow Centre Region Library as well as at the Society’s headquarters at 1001 East College Avenue.

Betsy Rodgers Allen, former director of Schlow Centre Region Library, is not just a respected librarian, but a skilled photographer as well. Her work focuses on the details of life -- the veins in a flower, the texture of a shingle, the ethereal quality of an anemone - things that other people might not even notice. Her visually intricate photography brings together a number of her interests - travel, nature, architecture, color and texture. This free showing is open during normal library hours.

Outdoor and Recreation
Getting Cabin Fever? Get ready to bundle up and head outdoors to the Village Ice Rink at Blue Spring Park, located in Harris Township at 230 Wagner St., Boalsburg.
This activity is FREE and fun for kids of all ages! Once it is opened, the on-ground ice rink (45’ x 80’) is totally dependant upon colder weather and the commitment of community volunteers to maintain the ice.
This is "natural ice" so we must wait until temperatures permit the ice to form. “Hockey-only” times are Mon & Thurs 3-5:30pm only.
Please call the “CRPR Ice Line” (tape message) at 234-7146 for current rink conditions (once the rink is open).
If there’s snow, you gotta go sledding. Slab Cabin Park, located in College Township at 316 Elmwood St., Lemont, has the best sledding slope around - and it's FREE!
The whole family is sure to enjoy this Centre Region wintertime tradition during daylight, or under the lights from 5-11 PM, conditions-permitting. Please note the slope rules, shown below. The slope is open as conditions permit. Shake off the winter chill and warm up around the fire ring.
Enjoy Happy Valley's most unique Valentine's Day offering with 2 for 1 specials on lift tickets for Ski/Snowboard or Snowtube ALL DAY then capped with a delicious couples dinner & dessert in Edges Pub in the Lodge, just $45 per couple!
