Discussion about PA Summer Academy at Penn State

Summer Academy is a three-week, intensive program focused on enhancing independence skills for students transitioning to postsecondary education. Summer Academy is for students who are blind, visually impaired and for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Co-directors of the Summer Academy Program at Penn State, Shelly Faust-Jones, Supervisor for Special Programs, and Karen Walsh-Emma, both of Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, in the Department of Labor and Industry will speak at the event.

This talk will cover:
how the Summer Academy Program was conceived
what is involved to put this program together
what outcomes have been derived these past few years from this program
and Penn State’s contributions to this program
