Front Country

Front Country is an American folk pop and progressive bluegrass band founded in 2011 in San Francisco. Following the release of its first full length album, Sake of Song, in 2014, the band began touring. On April 7, 2017 Front Country released its second full-length album Other Love Songs, debuting at #2 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums Chart.

The odds were very long at the five members of Front Country would end up in a bluegrass band. Singer Melody Walker sang roots rock; bass player Jeremey Darrow was into jazz; Leif Karlstrom trained to be a classical violinist, while Adam Roszkiewicz, the mandolinist, studied classical guitar. The band’s guitarist, Jacob Groopman toured with ate piece Afro-pop band.

However, when you bring them together, the synergies they create make a new sound, something NPR has called ‘string band pop”, perfect for a summer’s evening on the Old Main Lawn.
