The Golden Apple
February 28 - April 26, 2020

In Mythology and early Christian Iconography, the apple is symbolic of earthly desires, or of indulgence in such desires. The warning not to eat the forbidden apple came, therefore, from the mouth of the supreme being, as a warning against the exaltation of materialistic desire.

The apple was the forbidden fruit of the Classical Period or Golden Age of Greece, from around 300 to 500 BC. The Golden Age of Greece has given us the great monuments, art, philosophy, architecture and literature which are the building blocks of our own civilization.
