About the Artist: Jami Joelle Nielsen is a disabled recycled-object artivist with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome who combines a passion for nature, science, the arts, and social awareness through visual expression. Drawing from a degree in Environmental Science, her artwork combines a reverence for the wonders of nature and human impact. She creates “no-waste” collage, assemblage and paintings, using recycled materials in an attempt to narrate the chasm that exists in humanity’s relationship with its source, and explores deeper connections and dependencies therein. The end result pays homage to coexistence, transformation, and hope.
