State College Friends School Theater Camp (4th-7th grade)

Week 3 - FAIRY TALE MASH-UP (A FRIENDS SCHOOL TRADITION): Could the three little pigs be Cinderella's stepsisters? In Fairy Tale Mash-Up week, it's a possibility! Campers will transpose, translate, mix and match fairy tales to create fabulous inverted fairy tales. Creatively reinventing a traditional fairy tale into a re-imagined romp, from writing it on paper to an end-of-the-week performance. Each of our three weekly theater camps features its own fun-filled theme, and will culminate in a performance, showcasing the explorations of the week. Campers will participate in both on-stage and behind-the-scene aspects of the theater world. Our Theater Camps, open to all children 4nd through 7th grade, are guided by the Quaker principles of tolerance, peace, equality, integrity and community. The program is developed and supervised by Friends School teacher Renee Kredell. Tr. Renee has a degree in theater and dance in addition to a PhD in art education. She has worked in professional theater and film as a performer, choreographer, and designer. She combines her love of creative movement, making things, and story telling to cultivate an environment for creative exploration of the theatrical arts.
