Pace e Bene Outreach Coordinator, and former Jesuit Priest, John Dear will be visiting the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W. Beaver Ave., State College, Pa, Wed., April 16, 2014. His presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Westminster Hall.
John has published nearly thirty books and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. A popular speaker and columnist, John has been organizing and participating in nonviolent campaigns for three decades resulting in over 75 arrests and more than a year of his life spent in jail. His fervent belief in nonviolent peacemaking has caused him no shortage of ridicule, but he continues down that challenging path changing hearts and minds with compassion along the way.
John's newest book The Nonviolent Life, focuses on three important aspects on the path toward becoming people of nonviolence - being nonviolent toward ourselves; being nonviolent to all others (including creation and creatures); and joining the global grassroots movement of nonviolence. According to John, “most people pick one or two of these dimensions, but few do all three. To become a fully rounded, three dimensional person of nonviolence we need to do all three simultaneously.”
Please join and be inspired by John’s story, and his challenge for us all.
