Summer Camp Director

Position Description:
The Camp Director oversees the day-to-day logistics of our summer camp for 40 K-4th grade children, weaving together a weekly theme with the help of Lead Counselors. The Director plans and coordinates field trips, guides Lead and Assistant Counselors, responds to discipline concerns, and maintains contact with parents. The Director also oversees the preschool camps and Arts Camps, which are led by the “Wee Friends” director and the Arts Camp Director. This is an intensive and rewarding job. It requires someone who is motivated, creative, and flexible and whose values resonate with the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship.

This position starts mid-to-late January. The Director spends about 10 hours per week planning from January to June. During this time, the Director has an intermittent presence at Friends School and meets with school Administrators, plans camp themes and activities, and hires camp staff.

The first day of camp is June 8th. There are nine weeks of summer camp, Monday through Friday. This is a time of extensive planning and involvement. After the last day of camp, there is a short period of clean-up. Camp duties are complete by mid-August.
