Volunteer Coordinator

The Food Bank of State College has an exciting and rewarding career opportunity available for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of volunteer engagement in carrying out the vision and mission of the State College Food Bank, “to provide food security, directly and indirectly, to people in Centre County.”

The ideal candidate should have experience in volunteer and community service setting combined with an educational background that supports the job description. This person should possess the ability and willingness to follow a flexible work schedule, have experience in the usage of current technology, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a strong desire to help to promote the mission of the Food Bank. Requirements:  Qualifications/Experience for the Position:
1.College degree preferred.
2.Food safety training and strong knowledge of food handling practices is desirable.
3.Previous nonprofit experience is desirable.
4.Supervisory experience preferred.
5.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with multi-faceted demands and deadlines.
6.Ability to work with minimal supervision, to use independent judgment and to work cooperatively with organizational staff, volunteers, donors and clients.
7.Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
8.Must be able to use a keyboard.
9.Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
10.Must be able to use the Internet and email.
11.Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
12.Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift, up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
13.The ability and willingness to work occasional weekend and/or evening hours as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.
14.Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills demonstrating clarity and on-target messaging for a variety of audiences.
15.The ability and willingness to occasionally work in a non-climate controlled environment.
