Section of Route 322 Near State College to Be Closed for Emergency Bridge Repairs

A section of U.S. Route 322 in the Centre Region will be closed this week for emergency bridge repairs, according to PennDOT.

Route 322 eastbound in Harris Township will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday for maintenance crews to complete what PennDOT described in a news release as “emergency deck repairs” to the bridge spanning Route 45.

A PennDOT spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment about what necessitated the repairs.

Eastbound traffic (headed away from State College) will be detoured at the Old Fort exit and will follow a detour using Route 45 and Boal Avenue to reconnect with Route 322.

The one-day closure will not affect westbound traffic.

Work completed on Thursday “will improve safety and ride quality for motorists,” according to the release.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
