History of Memorial Day
Boalsburg lays claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day with observances dating back to 1864.
At that time Emma Hunter, Sophie Keller, and Elizabeth Meyer paid tribute to loved ones lost in the Civil War by placing flowers on their graves.
Now Boalsburg gets ready for its 147th observance with several fun and reflective
local memorial activities
on Memorial Day and the days preceding the holiday.

World War II - Revisited American and German WWII re-enactors will bivouac on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum Saturday and Sunday.  |

WWII Service Canteen The "Andrew Sisters Tribute Show" will entertain the troops at the annual WWII Combat Bivouac on the PA museum grounds in Boalsburg. Admission to the show is free. 3:00 pm  |

Memorial Day Race Come join us for the 31st Annual Boalsburg Memorial Day Run on Monday, May 30th starting at 8:30am at Blue Spring Park. This is a four mile course through historic Boalsburg for runners and walkers, with all race proceeds benefiting Boalsburg-area causes. |
