Register now for the 5th Annual Guitar and Bass Retreat in the Mountains, held July 30th thru August 2nd. Perfect for all levels including beginners, this recreational music get-away features one-on-one guitar or bass lessons, group classes, jam sessions and energizing concerts on the pristine mountain campus of Saint Francis University in nearby Loretto, Pennsylvania. The Retreat is held annually as part of “Arts in the Mountains, Summer Music and Arts Festival”, a culturally rich, all-inclusive event which features internationally recognized drummers, guitarists, songwriters from as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo who teach and perform. Participants enjoy two nights of free concerts, four days of workshops and master classes, group jam sessions and more. The Retreat is open to adults 18 years and older and qualifies for a college credit and ACT 48 continuing ed credits. Space is limited – register today! Summer Sounds from The Gazebo in Talleyrand Park are a staple in the Bellefonte summer activity menu. This series began in 1981 and brings nine free concerts every Sunday from June to August at 7:00 p.m. Musical styles include folk, pop, rock, and jazz. Lawn chairs or blankets are suggested.

Cost: $18 Age Restriction: All Ages Type: Big Band, Country, Jazz, Rock Sponsored by: M&T Bank, Nationwide, New York Life and Henry Parks Don and Lesly Hale met in Ithaca, New York where they both attended the Ithaca College School of Music. Starting in 1980, they performed together in a five piece band called DAZZ, playing club dates and fraternity parties at nearby Cornell University. The band continued to work sporadically for several years while Lesly and Don pursued other projects. Lesly was active in the Syracuse based theater group, Paul Robeson, appeared as soloist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, and starred in a one woman show at Syracuse Stage called “Lesly”. Don taught school and toured for a while as a trumpet player with Paul Anka. In 1985 Lesly and Don formed the duo, “Cahlua & Cream”, and began working in the Northeast. They performed at hotels and clubs in New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, Virginia, and of course Florida. After their marriage in 1990, and birth of their first son in 1992, they had the opportunity to perform at Kaki’s nightclub in the fall of ‘92. This eventually led to their relocation to Naples, Florida in 1993, where they live with their two sons, Darren and Alexander. Cahlua & Cream perform an array of popular songs from different genres and eras. They play music from the 50’s to popular music today, country, disco, big band, jazz and show tunes.

The Nittany Dreamers Baton Corps was founded over ten years ago by John Mitchell, the feature twirler of Penn State’s Blue Band. Following his graduation, the Nittany Dreamers were led by Blue Sapphires Christine Wolfe and Bobbie Jo Solomon. The Corps is now under the direction of Rachael Kerstetter, another former Penn State twirler.

The Nittany Dreamers Baton Corps was founded over ten years ago by John Mitchell, the feature twirler of Penn State’s Blue Band. Following his graduation, the Nittany Dreamers were led by Blue Sapphires Christine Wolfe and Bobbie Jo Solomon. The Corps is now under the direction of Rachael Kerstetter, another former Penn State twirler. The Nittany Dreamers is made up of 34 performers, who range in age from kindergarten through high school. They perform at parades throughout Centre County including the Penn State Homecoming Parade.
