STATE COLLEGE — A State College doctor was recently named Dermatologist of the Year by the Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, according to a press release.

Dr. Lorraine L. Rosamilia received the honor, which is presented to a dermatologist who has made significant contributions to the specialty, at the PAD Annual Scientific Meeting on Sept. 20 in Hershey.

A board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical dermatology with Geisinger Dermatology in State College, Rosamilia has served in various roles on the PAD Board of Directors since 2010, including as president, vice president, secretary, chair of the Scientific Meeting Committee, Pennsylvania Medical Society Specialty Leadership Cabinet representative and newsletter editor.

PAD President Scott Dr. J.M. Lim said in nominating Rosamilia that she lectures extensively nationally and internationally and was previously recognized as a young dermatologist of the year.

“I have worked first-hand with her and observed her genuine interests in the PAD via communications and her actions while we have overlapped our time on the executive Board,” Lim said.

“Dr. Rosamilia has not only contributed a lot in different areas, but the ‘weighted’ time and effort she has spent and the number of years she has contributed are commendable.”

Rosamilia earned her medical degree from Penn State and completed her dermatology residency at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Founded in 1966 PAD is a medical specialty organization with more than 400 members in the state.

“(PAD’s) mission is promote medical knowledge and experience useful to the improvement of treatment and care of patients in the area of dermatology and dermatologic surgery, ultimately benefiting the public through the prevention and treatment of dermatologic disorders,” according to the news release.
