Local Sex Offender Violates Megan’s Law

on December 05, 2007 8:07 AM
A registered sex offender in the city is headed to prison.

Thomas Laird, 64, entered a guilty plea in Blair County Court Monday to a Megan’s Law violation and was sentenced to two to four years in a state corrections facility.

Laird’s status as a registered sex offender resulted from a 1993 incident.

As a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania, Laird was to notify authorities of any change in his address, employment situation or education. According to court documents he failed to properly do that when he moved from an address on the 100 block of Ninth Street in Altoona to the 100 block of 8th street.
