Rockview State Police

A Spring Mills woman has been charged by police with writing a bad check. The West Sand Mountain Road resident wrote a check to pay a $600 oil fuel bill with insufficient funds Dec. 19 and never made an attempt to pay after a month’s time, authorities said.

Police are investigating a case of a stolen identification after an unknown suspect opened an account on Earth Link for $20.05 with a 35-year-old Bellefonte woman’s information Jan. 2.

Police reported they arrested Zachary Hefferman on Jan. 6 for a suspected DUI on state Route 322 at Hannah Furnace Road, Rush Township.

Police said inmate Jose Martinez, at SCI Rockview, smeared suspected human feces on two other inmates and struck them with a sharpened piece of metal Jan. 23. Police said they are charging Martinez with aggravated assault.

Police received several rounds of 9mm rounds found by a citizen along Buffalo Run Road, Benner Township, on Jan. 29. The ammunition was found to be damaged and will be destroyed.

Police reported that two unknown suspects, one male and one female, entered a garage on Sandy Ridge Drive, Marion Township, between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1, and stole alcoholic beverages from a refrigerator. Police said the suspects then stole a Kenwood radio, two MTX 12-inch subwoofers and a 250- watt amp from a vehicle.

Police reported they found numerous items, including a tote and multiple towels, on Fountain Road, near state Route 144, in Snow Shoe on Jan. 30. Anyone wishing to claim the items should call the station at (814) 355-7574.

A Blanchard man was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia during a warrant service by police Jan. 31. The investigation is ongoing.

Police reported that David Hege, of Centre Hall, crashed his 2016 Jeep Compass into another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light on the Benner Pike at the Rolling Ridge Drive intersection Feb. 2. Police said Hege was using his hands-free phone and was not paying attention when the incident occurred. He was charged with driving at an unsafe speed. There were no injuries reported to police.

Police responded to the scene when George Gomola, of Clarence, crashed his 2004 Suzuki Forenza into an embankment on Interstate 80 after he lost control of his vehicle. Police said they cited Gomola with driving at an unsafe speed.

PHILIPSBURG STATE POLICE

Police reported they charged Nathan Keeler with writing bad checks after he wrote several bad checks to an unidentified victim from Sept. 7 to Oct. 5.

Destiny Hetrick, 25, and Rakim Thomas, 24, were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of an illegal firearm and endangering the welfare of a child Jan. 23 after a U.S. Postal Service inspector alerted police of a delivery of marijuana to their residence at 202 E. Oak St., Port Matilda. Police said the delivery contained more than 8 pounds of marijuana. Police found another 2 pounds of marijuana, along with psychedelic mushrooms and an illegal shotgun, at the residence.

Police reported that an unknown person threw nails on a driveway on Steele Hollow Road, Huston Township, between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 1 The investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to an altercation Feb. 1 between two juveniles at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. Police charged one of the juveniles with harassment after they discovered that person had punched the other juvenile.

A juvenile was charged with harassment by police after striking another juvenile at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High school on Feb. 2.

Brian Volk crashed his 2012 Ford Fusion into a utility pole after swerving to avoid a deer on state Route 350 on Feb. 3. Police charged Volk with not driving on roadways laned for traffic.
