HARRIS TOWNSHIP — Construction crews have already raised the bones of a new hotel at Mountain View Country Club, with developers still aiming for a September 2018 opening.

Jennifer Brooks-Stahl, director of sales and marketing for Mountain View, said crews are already working on the interior of the building, which can be seen from Route 45.

“The project is going extremely well and we are excited to see the building finally starting to take shape,” Brooks-Stahl said. “The fourth-floor plank is scheduled to commence this week, and framing continues on the exterior walls.”

The Wyndham Garden will contain 100 deluxe rooms and suites to complement the Mountain View Country Club. The hope, according to Brooks-Stahl, is the new mini-resort will be even more of a destination for people outside the area and add even more amenities for locals.

The existing clubhouse will also get a makeover this winter during the offseason.

“The hotel will also connect to the existing clubhouse at Mountain View, and a renovation of the current bar and restaurant will commence on January 2, 2018,” she said. “The restaurant and bar transformation will include a new granite bar, redesigned seating to including booths and banquettes, and a new tap system that will feature 16 domestic and local draft beers.”

There will also be two new patio areas and a seasonal bar overlooking the ninth hole.

The Ramada State College Hotel and Conference Center purchased the entire property from the State College Elks in 2012. It was originally developed in 1963.

The Ramada group worked throughout the early part of 2017 to clear the paperwork through Harris Township and satisfy environmental regulations such as riparian buffers and a sewage collection system.
