BELLEFONTE — The third annual Summer Craft Beverage Expo is on tap for June 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Bellefonte’s Talleyrand Park.

The event will serve local flavors, featuring a performance by local duo Hops and Vines, Pennsylvania-based food trucks and vendors and the main attraction— locally-produced adult beverages produced by the 12 members of the Central Pennsylvania Tasting Trail available to sample and purchase.

The expo serves as the main fundraiser for the Tasting Trail, which is made up solely of Centre County craft breweries, distilleries, wineries and cideries. Tickets for the event are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Attendees who are over 21 and purchase a ticket will be given a wristband, a souvenir tasting glass and a sleeve of tickets that can be traded in for limited sample tastings from each of the trail members, which include Barrel 21 Dining & Distillery, Big Spring Spirits, Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks, Good Intent Cider, Happy Valley Brewing Company, Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery, Keeywaydin Cider, Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery, Otto's Pub & Brewery, Robin Hood Brewing, Seven Mountains Wine Cellars and University Wine Company.

In addition to samples, glasses of beer, spirits and wine will be for sale. According to Lucy Rogers, event organizer and tasting manager of Big Spring Spirits, anyone who wishes to purchase bottles or growlers from the trail members can have them kept at a mandatory free bottle check area, conveniently located for attendees to stop by to pick up their bottles as they are leaving.

Besides the trail members, some of the vendors who will be on site include the Blonde Bistro, Cafe Lemont Coffee Roasters, Rosie’s Pierogies, Mount Nittany Kombucha, Marshmallow MBA, Joy Beadz Glass Jewelry and 10 more.

Designated drivers and children under 21 are welcome to attend the event for free, Rogers said, although dogs are not permitted. Tents and seating will be provided, but people are also invited to bring their own chairs or blankets to set up in the park if they wish.

“I want people to know they are welcome to come and take in the atmosphere and listen to the music. We really want to be inclusive,” she said.

As an added bonus this year, visitors are invited to stick around after the expo for a free performance by The Cast of Beatlemania at 7 p.m. The vendors and the trail members will remain on-site to sell food and drinks. Proof of age will be required for everyone who wishes to drink or purchase alcohol.

All year long, the Central Pennsylvania Tasting Trail sells passports for $35, with each trail member providing passport holders with a free gift at their locations, such as glassware or free samples. Passport holders who visit every location in one year receive an exclusive Tasting Trail hooded sweatshirt. They also can enter the Summer Craft Beverage Expo at 2 p.m., one hour before the general public.

Passports and tickets to the event are available online at centralpatastingtrail.com.
