Students graduate throughout the county

Hundreds of Centre County students have already, or soon will, don caps and gowns for 2018 commencement ceremonies.
Centre County Gazette reached out to the several high schools throughout the county for information regarding their individual graduation ceremonies.

BALD EAGLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Bald Eagle Area High School held commencement services June 2 at Alumni Stadium.

In total, 144 students were in the 2018 graduating class. Michael Bailey was the class valedictorian, and he plans to continue his education at the University of Southern California. Morgan Chambers was the salutatorian, and she will continue her studies at Penn State University.

BELLEFONTE AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Bellefonte Area High School graduated 196 seniors June 1 in the high school’s gymnasium.

Cassandra Vogel was the class valedictorian, and she plans to continue her education at Millersville University. Lindsay Knupp was the salutatorian, and she will attend Bucknell University.

CENTRE COUNTY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

Centre County Christian Academy graduated five seniors at services held June 1 at First Baptist Church in Bellefonte. Those graduating included Matthew Scott Hodges, Ashley Marie Kerstetter, Devan Mackenzie Walker, Jayden Cole Wert and Bier Wu “Bill.”

Walker was the class valedictorian and will continue her education at Penn State University. Kerstetter was the salutatorian and plans to continue her studies at Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology.

The class colors were green and gold and the graduation speaker was Pastor Troy Kerstetter.

PENNS VALLEY AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Penns Valley Area High School graduated 99 students at the high school June 1. Alyssa K. Boob was the valedictorian and Samuel David Kupp was the salutatorian.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School graduated 137 seniors June 1 at commencement ceremonies held at the high school's track/turf field. Adeline McCafferty was the class valedictorian and Gage Coudriet was the salutatorian.

The senior class motto for 2018 was “No matter where you go, there you are! Carpe Diem.” The quote comes from high school Spanish teacher Fred Seltzer. P-O’s class colors were navy blue, white and silver and the class flower was mountain laurel. The class song for 2018 was “Five More Minutes” by Scott McCreery.

ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy had 37 students graduate May 19 at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center at Penn State University.

St. Joe’s does not name a valedictorian or salutatorian; however, commencement speeches were offered by Madline Helfer, who will attend the College of William and Mary, and Peter Forstmeir, who will attend Schreyer Honors College at Penn State.

GRACE PREP HIGH SCHOOL

Grace Prep High School will hold commencement services Friday, June 8, at State College Alliance Church.

STATE COLLEGE AREA HIGH SCHOOL

State College Area High School will hold graduation ceremonies Saturday, June 9, at the Bryce-Jordan Center.
