POTTERS MILLS — With work now underway on the Route 322 Potters Mills Gap project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is alerting motorists to coming changes in the traffic pattern through the project area.

Starting Thursday, May 10, drivers can expect a single lane pattern each direction from Decker Valley Road to Sand Mountain Road. Traffic may be slow through this area and drivers should be alert for stopped or slowed traffic.
Starting Monday, May 21, westbound traffic will make use of a crossover through the project area and an 11-foot width restriction will be in effect.

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, is the contractor on the $82 million project.

The goal of Phase 3 is to reconstruct Route 322 from Sand Mountain Road to Potters Mills, including a new Route 322-Route 144 intersection that will be a part of the local access road.

Work has been taking place through the Potters Mills area since 2015, when Phase 1 saw the construction of the new bridge at Sand Mountain Road. In 2016 and 2017, Phase 2 created the new local interchange at Sand Mountain Road.

PennDOT expects the new roadway to be open to traffic in fall 2020.
