In four years of study at Penn State, I spent a total of four summers in State College. It's not that I don't love my family -- I do -- but the journalism opportunities here were simply better than those offered in Gwynedd Valley, home of an Italian restaurant, a post office and a train station.
And that was before this opportunity even existed:
Spend this summer as a StateCollege.com intern or contributor! Interns are part of a structured, for-credit program, contributors work on a freelance basis.
We're not looking for writers and photographers; we're looking for renaissance journalists with an interest in doing it all. Learn to take photos, write articles and edit videos for the most complete coverage of the Penn State and State College communities.
As an intern, you'll work side-by-side with the area's most knowledgeable and versatile reporter, Adam Smeltz, to master your reporting skills. I'll work directly with you to improve your writing skills, and you'll receive basic training for photography and videography.
Can't commit to the structure of an internship? Contribute your work to StateCollege.com and take advantage of our search engine strength. (Just search "Terry Casey" to see what it can do for you.)
If you are interested, submit your resume and samples of work to terry.casey@statecollege.com. Applicants are selected on a rolling basis, so apply early.
We look forward to working with you.
