HERSHEY — Erskine and Wilhelmina “Willie” Cash, of Centre Hall, are very proud of their granddaughter, Liz Voight, of Fredericksburg. Voight recently was named the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen in a three-day competition that took place in Hershey.

Voight beat out 57 other contestants from around the state to win the crown. Last August, she  was crowned the Lebanon Area Fair Queen, which earned her a berth in the state competition. Voight is a senior at Northern Lebanon High School and lives on a 19-acre farm in Fredericksburg with her parents, Delbert and Lori Cash Voight, and brothers Hunter and James.

"I've been involved with agriculture since I was born, and the fair has been a big part of my life since I was 8, when I started showing cows, a pig and my horse with my family," Voight said in an interview with the Lebanon Daily News.

"My mom was involved in that kind of stuff, too, so she encouraged me to go out for it. And I did, but I didn't think this would happen."

Agriculture isn't Voight’s only passion. She also is a star guard for the Northern Lebanon High School Vikings girls’ basketball team, averaging 18 points per game. She was a key player in Northern Lebanon's District 4A championship team last season, and on Jan. 30, she scored her 1,000th point for the Vikings.
