Getwireless.net Announces Downtown State College Service Upgrade

on August 20, 2007 4:44 PM

Getwireless.net is pleased to announce the completion of a network upgrade that greatly enhances the company’s high-speed Internet service options in the Downtown State College area.  The installation of a ClearMesh Metro Grid™ establishes a Metro Ethernet or Metro LAN ring around the downtown area and enables Getwireless.net to deliver redundant bandwidth of up to 100 Mbps to any client within Downtown State College.

The ClearMesh network delivers high-speed Internet service that is secure, reliable, and very affordable.  Downtown businesses utilizing Getwireless.net’s service will receive access speeds of 5 Mbps burtsable, or greater, at prices far below those of previously available solutions, such as T1 lines.  And small- to medium-sized businesses can now afford to access the Internet at speeds that previously exceeded their budgets.  The new technology also enables Getwireless.net to establish service at a new location very quickly, often in as little as 24 hours.  Students in apartment buildings served by Getwireless.net will also benefit from the network upgrade through much faster Internet connections, low latency, and lower monthly fees – a combination that is unequaled by other student broadband providers in the market.

Daniel Myers, President of Getwireless.net, stated, “As a technology leader, Getwireless.net is always on the lookout for opportunities to deliver a higher level of service at the same or lower cost to our customers.  The ClearMesh technology does that, and we are pleased to bring such leading-edge technology to the State College market.”  Myers continued, “The downtown area is filled with small and medium-sized businesses that rely heavily on the Internet but can’t afford to pay a fortune for bandwidth.  The ClearMesh service enables us to meet the needs of those businesses by delivering very high bandwidth capability with security, reliability, and low cost.  In addition, I expect our student customers to be thrilled with the high speeds they’ll receive this school year.”

Getwireless.net currently provides low-cost, high-speed Internet service to businesses and residences throughout the Central Pennsylvania region via a high-speed network infrastructure.  Through a fixed-point wireless connection, Getwireless.net customers can receive Internet access at speeds greater than those available by a traditional T1 connection or cable modem, but at a fraction of the cost.  And with little equipment to install, Getwireless.net can activate service to most locations within 3-5 days, as compared to the weeks or months required for most other solutions.  For business’s relying on the Internet and VPN connections for daily operations, Getwireless.net provides a very stable and dependable connection, either as a primary service or as secondary backup connection to existing T1, DSL or cable modem service.  In addition, the company also provides traditional landline-based broadband services, such as T1 lines, managed website hosting, server co-location, DSL, and dial-up Internet access.  Getwireless.net currently serves the cities and towns of State College, Bellefonte, Spring Mills, Centre Hall, Pennsylvania Furnace, Boalsburg, Huntingdon, Lewistown, Mifflin, Altoona, Duncansville, Hollidaysburg, Bedford, and Everett.  Service in the community of Rebersburg will be available soon, and continued expansion into the region’s rural communities is expected.
