Getwireless.net To Offer Internet Service At Grange Fair

on August 18, 2007 6:45 AM

Getwireless.net, Central Pennsylvania’s premier wireless Internet service provider, is pleased to announce that it will be providing high-speed wireless Internet access to patrons of this year’s Grange Fair.  Anyone within the Grange Fairgrounds who has a laptop or desktop computer with a wireless access card will be able to – for a small one-time fee – surf the Web via Getwireless.net’s WiFi network.

Those wishing to sign up for the WiFi service during Grange Fair will be able to do so online from the fairgrounds by searching for available wireless networks and selecting SSID "getwireless" or "getwireless.net."  Getwireless.net will deliver download speeds of up to 3 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1 Mbps.  Wireless Internet access will be available on the fairgrounds starting August 21st and continuing through the final day of Grange Fair, August 30th.

Dan Myers, Getwireless.net's owner and president, commented, "Getwireless.net was ahead of the technology curve when we became one of the country's first Wireless Internet Service Providers ("WISPs") in 1998, and we broke new ground in 2006 when we launched a WiFi network covering Downtown State College.  Today, we are making great progress in delivering broadband Internet access to rural communities throughout Central Pennsylvania.  Likewise, The Grange has a long history of introducing new technology, including electricity, to local rural communities.  It makes perfect sense, then, that our organizations work together to bring wireless Internet technology to The Grange Fair.  The fair is a great event and a local institution, and we, as a local business, are pleased to have the opportunity to serve the fair and its patrons.”

Getwireless.net currently provides low-cost, high-speed Internet service to businesses and residences throughout the Central Pennsylvania region, including the cities and towns of State College, Bellefonte, Spring Mills, Centre Hall, Pennsylvania Furnace, Boalsburg, Huntingdon, Lewistown, Mifflin, Altoona, Duncansville, Hollidaysburg, Bedford, and Everett.  Service in the community of Rebersburg will be available soon, and continued expansion into the region’s rural communities is expected.
