Lazerlink To Provide Nationwide Dial-Up

on May 12, 2006 2:25 PM
State College-based Lazerlink Internet Services has announced that it will be launching a greatly enhanced dial-up Internet service network on May 16, 2006.  The service will enable Lazerlink to serve dial-up Internet access customers nationwide and will benefit its current customers through a variety of improved features, including faster connection to the Internet, accelerated downloads, and nationwide access to their Lazerlink account.

"Despite the rapid growth of high-speed broadband service across the country, the vast majority of the population still access the Internet via dial-up," stated Mohammed Hasan, Chief Technical Officer.  "Many have remained with dial-up access due to its low cost, while many others, including many in rural areas of Central Pennsylvania, still have no alternative.  By upgrading our service, we are giving our dial-up customers a viable alternative to broadband for just $9.95 per month."

Lazerlink dial-up customers will now access the Internet through V.92 modem technology, rather than the V.90 technology previously used.  The V.92 technology means calls connect to the Internet faster, with much less of the buzzing and beeping noises that dial-up customers have come to expect.  In addition, the V.92 technology enables users with call-waiting to answer incoming phone calls without severing their Internet connection.

Accelerated dial-up is another major enhancement Lazerlink customers can take advantage of with the newly upgraded service.  The industry leading Slipstream Web Accelerator technology accelerates a user's Web access speeds up to seven times faster than normal dial-up service.  Accelerated dial-up customers may also choose to implement additional value-added features, such as Pop-Up Blocker, Banner-Ad Blocking, Privacy Manager, and FTP Acceleration.

Lazerlink, a subsidiary of Getwireless.net, has been delivering high-quality Internet services to Central Pennsylvania residents and businesses since 1996, and the company continues to lead the way in reliability, customer service, and new, cost-effective technologies.  In addition to Lazerlink's dial-up Internet access, Getwireless.net offers high-speed broadband Internet access through fixed-point wireless connections that deliver speeds greater than that available by traditional T1 or cable connections, but at a fraction of the cost.  For businesses that depend heavily on the Internet, VoIP and VPN connections for daily operations, Getwireless.net provides a very stable and dependable connection, either as a primary service or as secondary backup connection to existing T1, DSL or cable modem service.  In addition, the company also provides traditional landline-based broadband services, such as T1 lines, managed website hosting, server co-location, DSL, and nationwide dial-up Internet access.  Getwireless.net currently provides high-speed Internet service throughout Centre, Blair, Mifflin, Bedford, Huntingdon, and Juniata Counties.
