PSU Students In Downtown State College to See Faster Internet Service

on August 23, 2007 8:52 AM
Getwireless.net, Central Pennsylvania’s leading provider of wireless broadband Internet access, is pleased to announce that it has completed major upgrades to its service to multi-tenant buildings in the Downtown State College area.  The equipment upgrade enables Getwireless.net to offer very high Internet access speeds – up to 20 Mbps/3 Mbps – to students living in Downtown State College apartment buildings.

“In addition to expanding our service into new geographic areas,” commented Daniel Myers, Getwireless.net’s President, “We have continued to enhance service to our existing customers.  Upgrading to the ADSL-2+ equipment in the multi-tenant buildings we service provides several advantages to our customers in those buildings, most notably increased access speeds and reliability.”  Myers continued, “This was a major system upgrade project, and we are pleased to have it completed prior to the start of PSU’s fall semester.  Our student customers will benefit greatly from the hard work the Getwireless.net staff has put in all summer long.”

For the 2007-08 school year, Getwireless.net has repackaged its student access packages and is now offering per-apartment pricing, in addition to multiple access speed options.  The standard Internet access package delivers 7 Mbps/1 Mbps access for as low as $27.95 per month, per apartment.  Also available in all Getwireless.net-served student buildings is 12 Mbps/2 Mbps access and, in some buildings, 20 Mbps/3 Mbps access.  And, every wired Internet access account includes access to Getwireless.net’s exclusive Downtown State College WiFi network free-of-charge.  Installation is also free, and Getwirless.net offers its customers free, local support.

Getwireless.net currently provides low-cost, high-speed Internet service to businesses and residences throughout the Central Pennsylvania region – including more than 100 multi-tenant buildings in State College – via a high-speed network infrastructure.  Through a fixed-point wireless connection, Getwireless.net customers can receive Internet access at speeds greater than those available by a traditional T1 connection or cable modem, but at a fraction of the cost.  And with little equipment to install, Getwireless.net can activate service to most locations within 3-5 days.  For business’s relying on the Internet and VPN connections for daily operations, Getwireless.net provides a very stable and dependable connection, either as a primary service or as secondary backup connection to existing T1, DSL or cable modem service.  In addition, the company also provides dedicated landline-based broadband services, such as T1 lines and fiber, managed website hosting, server co-location, DSL, and nationwide dial-up Internet access.  Getwireless.net currently provides high-speed Internet access in the cities and towns of State College, Bellefonte, Spring Mills, Centre Hall, Pennsylvania Furnace, Boalsburg, Huntingdon, Lewistown, Mifflin, Altoona, Duncansville, Hollidaysburg, Bedford, and Everett.  Service in the community of Rebersburg will be available soon, and continued expansion into the region’s rural communities is expected.
