12th Annual State College Fall Festival to Take Place Saturday
Kids and parents alike can celebrate the return of autumn this weekend when the State College Fall Festival gets underway this Saturday.
The 12th annual Fall Festival will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will feature tons of kids' activities, as well as activities for an older crowd. The event will be held on Allen Street and throughout downtown.
Kids will have the chance to decorate pumpkins, ride ponies or climb a rock wall, all offered by Centre County Day for Kids.
For those who love to bake, you can make your own fall themed dessert for the chance to win a $50 downtown gift card. The desserts will be judged on appearance, flavor, creativity and difficulty level.
After the judging, the desserts will be available for purchase at about noon for $1 per serving.
Those who want to be judged on their eating of food rather than their making of it, there will be a speed-eating competition sponsored by Bradley's Cheesesteaks. Each competitor will be given two cheesesteaks and whoever downs them the fastest will be declared the winner.
Other activities include a painting competition sponsored by Uncle Eli's Artist Marketplace. For this competition, preregistered participants will be asked to paint a scene of downtown State College on a canvas between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The pieces will then be judged and artists whose work are selected will receive cash prizes. All the finished pieces will hang in Webster's Bookstore and Cafe.
