39 Candidates Running for Three Seats on Board of Trustees

Alumni have 39 candidates to vote into three seats on the Penn State Board of Trustees in the upcoming election, down from a record 86 candidates last year, announced at 1:30 p.m. in a procedural drawing at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel. 

Associate secretary Paula Ammerman pulled the ballots, which will go live April 10 online. Voters have from April 10 through 9 a.m. May 2 to vote. 

Penn State officials said biographical information and position statements for each candidate will be available by March 18 on a 'Meet the Candidates' page. The Penn State Alumni Association will invite the candidates to participate in a voluntary 'Three Questions for the Candidates' session and those responses will be posted online on April 4.

The 39 candidates, who needed 50 signatures to run for one of the three positions on the board will be elected by alumni, and the order in which they will appear on the ballot, are as follows (year of graduation, business title/profession, and place of residence are also provided) courtesy of Penn State:

Candidate No. 12, Stephanie Deviney, was is running for re-election and was elected co-chair of the board in January. 

Last year, a record 86 candidates ran for a seat in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal and firing of former head football coach Joe Paterno. Adam Taliaferro, Anthony Lubrano and Ryan McCombie were voted on the board by alumni in 2012.
