A State College Woman Was on Wednesday Night’s ‘Jeopardy.’ Here’s How She Did

State College’s Rebecca Zoshak made a return to ‘Jeopardy!’ on Wednesday night, after first competing on the quiz show in January.

This time, she ended the night a champion.

During her first outing earlier this year, the Penn State language specialist didn’t win after she was unable to come up with the correct response in Final Jeopardy. But at the conclusion of that show, host Alex Trebek said that the phrasing of the final clue was not as precise as it should have been, and that the one contestant who was affected by it — Zoshak — would be invited back.

She made that return appearance on Wednesday night and will be back on the show on Thursday night as the returning champion, after finishing the episode as the winner with a total of $14,407.

Entering Final Jeopardy, she had $7,400 and was locked in a close battle against returning two-day champion Lisa Mueller, with $7,200, and fellow challenger Chris Frantz, with $6,600.

The category was ‘Films of the 1960s’ and the answer was ‘Bernard Herrmann scored this 1960 black and white thriller using only the string section of an orchestra.’

Each contestant gave the correct response, ‘Psycho,’ but Zoshak’s wager of $7,007 kept her in first. Mueller bet $6,001 to come in second at $13,201 and Frantz $6,000 to come in third with $12,600.

On Thursday night’s episode Zoshak will be competing against challengers Natasha Go, of Sunnyside, N.Y., and Lynn Klyde-Allaman, of Lafayette, Colo.

‘Jeopardy!’ airs locally at 7 p.m. on ABC 23-WATM.
