AccuWeather: Memorial Day Weekend to Feel Like Summer

by on May 25, 2012 11:55 AM

Memorial Day Weekend will feature warm temperatures and a chance of severe weather, but that shouldn't discourage you from charcoal, burgers and dogs.

"Certainly the weekend will have a summery feel to it," said Tom Kines, who has been with AccuWeather since 1983. "Not only is it gonna be warm, but humidity will be noticeable. I don't think unbearable, but so early in the season, we’re not quite accustomed to the humidity yet."

AccuWeather forecasts temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It handicaps an afternoon shower or thunderstorm at 40-50 percent each day.

"I'd be surprised if we made it through the whole weekend without seeing a thunderstorm," Kines said. "At some point, it's pretty likely. The odds are probably better maybe on Monday."

But ...

"Will it rain all day? No," Kines said. "if you have outdoor plans, I wouldn’t be cancelling them yet."
