Central Pennsylvania Creative Professionals, known as [CP]2, hosted on Saturday its annual award ceremony honoring excellence in advertising, design and marketing created in Central Pennsylvania.

The group also announced the State College nonprofit Taproot Kitchen as this year’s Brand[Aid] recipient, an initiative that brings together dozens of professionals who are members of [CP]2 to update a local nonprofits branding and marketing for free.

Taproot Kitchen integrates young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities into the community by teaching culinary skills and hosting dinners for the public. It was selected from among 20 applicants.

“This is such a great opportunity," said Taproot Kitch cofounder Sharon Schafer. "Taproot Kitchen is so grateful and excited to see what this talented, enthusiastic and community-minded group will do to help advance our message and mission in the Centre Region.”

This is the second time [CP]2 has offered the free rebranding. In 2015, members worked with Housing Transitions, to update its logo, website, messaging, marketing materials and fundraising strategy.

Hosted at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center and emceed by actor Mike Waldhier, the event presented gold and silver Bracket Awards to 14 local agencies, media outlets, businesses and nonprofits. More than 100 people attended.

"The 2017 Bracket Awards are a celebration of the very best advertising, design, and marketing work created right here in Central Pennsylvania. This year, there was fantastic art direction and design, copywriting, web development, video production and illustration," [CP]2 President Mark D. Dello Stritto said. "This event is a symbol of the growth of our community, and a proud statement on the bright ideas and rich talents of creative professionals throughout our region."

AccuWeather was awarded Best in Show for a "Game of Thrones" themed video.

Entries were judged by a third-party panel in Philadelphia and those receiving the highest marks were selected for an award. AccuWeather.
