by on December 08, 2016 5:00 AM

The 13th annual State College Santa Crawl will blanket downtown State College in a sea of red with white trimmings on Saturday.

The State College Santa Crawl is a charity fundraising event benefiting to the Pat Boland Memorial Internship Award, a scholarship for Penn State students interested in broadcast journalism.

Those who want to participate in the event can purchase a wristband for $20 to enter participating bars without paying the normal cover charge. Bars participating in this year’s Santa Crawl include The Lion’s Den, Adam’s Apple, ShandyGaff, Rathskeller, Darkhorse, Mad Mex, The Phyrst, Local Whisky, Pickles, Zeno’s, Indigo, Primanti Bros, and Cafe 210. Last year, the Santa Crawl raised more than $15,000 selling the wristbands.

Wristbands can be purchased ahead of time from Hotel State College, the Tavern, Bradley’s Steaks, Primanti Bros, or Cafe 210. Participants are encouraged to pick them up before the night of the crawl.

The party will start at either end of town and move toward the center of downtown State College. At 8 p.m., participants are asked to go to either Primanti Bros or Cafe 210. At 9 p.m., Santa Crawl participants will fan out to their favorite bars. At about 9:45 p.m., participants can head to Indigo to get their picture taken in the official 2016 Santa Crawl photo.

More than 700 say they’re attending the event on its Facebook page.
