Arts Fest Unveils 2018 Collectible Poster

by on June 12, 2018 3:58 PM

The 52nd Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is one month away, and the festival continues an annual tradition with the release of this year's collectible poster.

The 24-inch by 36-inch poster features some familiar Arts Fest iconography, with the festival jester, musical notes and a paintbrush arranged over a background of yellows, oranges and pinks.

For the first time in the festival's history, the jester is depicted as female.

Lanny Sommese, Penn State professor emeritus of graphic design, designed the poster in collaboration with his daughter, Saige, a 2018 graduate of the Penn State graphic design program. The elder Sommese has been creating the festival's posters for decades and the entire collection is on display in the HUB-Robeson Center.

This year's Arts Fest kicks off with Children and Youth Day on July 11 followed by the Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition -- and all of its accompanying entertainment, activities and food -- July 12-15 in downtown State College and on the University Park campus.

The poster is free and can be picked up at the following locations
