Bars Fight To Regain Licenses

According to the Daily Collegian, the future of Tony's Big Easy and two accompanying downtonw bars is uncertain after the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) declined to renew their parent company's liquor license last week.

Multiple incidents and violations at the bars, including a murder in 2006 and a fight in February which led to four arrests, led the board to vote against renewing the license for Sanmark Inc.  Sanmark Inc. is the the owner of Tony's Big Easy, Lulu's Nightspot, and Candy Bar & Lounge, all located at 129 1/2 South Pugh Street.

On Friday, an appeal was filed on behalf of the bars' owner, Tony Sapia.  The bars will remain open during the appeal process.  (Read More)
