Blaze Rips Through Scott's Landscaping: Route 322 Closed For Hours
Update 6:00 a.m. PennDot reports that route 322 reopened early Monday morning.
A major fire shuts down Route 322 in Centre Hall. The fire roared through the Scott's Landscaping business early Sunday evening.
The first crews on the scene say that flames were already shooting through the roof.
There are no reports of injuries but it appears the building may be a total loss. There's no word on how the fire started.
Firefighters from six fire companies are on the scene. Getting enough water to battle the blaze is proving difficult. At least 10 tanker trucks are shuttling back and forth, dumping loads of water into a pool. The water is pumped from the pool up to firefighters manning the hoses.
Dense smoke was still rolling out of the building at 8:30 p.m. and it looks like it may be a long night for fire crews. Diesel fuel in the garage apparently spilled and hazmat teams are being brought in to deal with that.
Traffic on Route 322 is being detoured between East Jacks Mill Drive in Harris Township onto Route 45 and then east on PA 144 to Potter Township. It appears that the detour may continue late into the night.
