Bridge Repairs on Route 322 to Begin Soon
You may run into some delays on Route 322 in the coming days.
Assuming the weather cooperates, work crews will be fixing a small bridge just east of Boalsburg, beginning sometime next week.
You may not even realize the bridge, which spans Galbraith Run, is even there. The bridge is located just a few hundred yards before the heavily-traveled road turns into a four lane divided highway.
It is not considered structurally deficient, but PennDot says, "repairs will help to preserve the integrity of the structure and extend its useful life."
On March 25, a 10-foot width restriction will be put into effect and a temporary barrier will be installed.
Construction workers will begin by removing the blacktop surface. A few of the beams will be encapsulated with concrete to help preserve them. A waterproofing membrane will be installed on the roadway before it's re-paved.
A portion of the guide rail will also be replaced. PennDot says all of the work is considered “normal bridge preservation repair”.
The repairs should be completed by the end of June.
