Buggin' Out: Penn State's Great Insect Fair Returns to Ag Arena

by on September 27, 2019 4:29 PM

Penn State's Great Insect Fair returns on Saturday, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Snider Ag Arena on the University Park campus.

"The whole idea is that people should walk away learning something about insects," says Michael Skvarla, director of the Penn State Insect Lab. "We usually try to tie the booths into whatever the theme for the year is."

This year that theme is "Living With(Out) Insects," inspired by the worldwide decline in insect species. Visitors will be able to learn about and explore these bugs and why they are vital to the health of the planet and people.

The fair will have a variety of games, crafts and activities, including honey and insect tasting, face painting, observing butterflies, and getting hands on at the live insect zoo.

Parking and admission are free, though donations are welcome.

Centre County Report's Courtney Guiry previews the bugs and more that will be on display.
