by on August 31, 2012 3:33 PM

CATA announced its shuttle service to Penn State home games for Saturday as well as the rest of the season and it's Labor Day schedule on Monday, when the offices will be closed but buses still run.

Both press releases are below.

Gameday:

"Again this season, CATA will be providing shuttle service to the Penn State home football games with two distinct routes – one serving Downtown State College (Downtown Shuttle) and one serving Hills Plaza and other South Atherton Street hotels and businesses (South Atherton Shuttle).

"The Downtown Shuttle will serve the Downtown State College area with pick-ups on Beaver Avenue (at the corner of Atherton Street and Beaver Avenue and the Schlow Library stop at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Allen Street) as well as at all CATABUS stops along University Drive, Easterly Parkway and Atherton Street from Easterly Parkway to Beaver Avenue.

"The South Atherton Shuttle will serve the Hills Plaza parking lot and all South Atherton CATABUS stops from Hills Plaza to Easterly Parkway, Rolling Ridge and Windmere Drives, Easterly Parkway and University Drive. Please note that parking at the Hills Plaza is limited to the rear of the Plaza only - no parking anywhere else in the plaza, including alongside Ollie's, will be permitted. Each Game Day Shuttle bus stop is distinctly marked by a special sign showing which of the two shuttle routes serve that stop.

"Each route will only stop at these marked locations. The Shuttles begin operation three hours before kick-off and run continuously until one hour after each game is over. (For games that begin after 6:00 p.m., shuttle service will operate from 3:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.) Both Shuttles operate in both directions approximately every ten minutes before the game, and every twenty minutes during the game, and every ten minutes one-way from the stadium following the game.

"Fare for either shuttle is $3.00 per one-way trip (exact fare only) for both adults and children. Individuals presenting a valid U.S. Medicare Card, Senior Transit Identifi cation Card or a CATA Reduced Fare Identifi cation Card may ride for half the fare ($1.50). Please remember that passengers pay when boarding the bus and may pay for more than one passenger, but drivers do not carry change. In addition to the service provided by the shuttles, individuals may also take advantage of the no-fare BLUE and WHITE LOOPs that provide continuous service within walking distance of Beaver Stadium to Downtown State College until 2:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. respectively.

"Service beyond Downtown to the South Atherton Street hotels and the Hills Plaza is available via the HP Route ($1.50 fare) which leaves Downtown (at the Schlow Library stop at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Allen Street) every 120 minutes at 4:24, 6:24, and 8:24 p.m.(-More-)Press Release(-Continued-)For more information on these Game Day Shuttle services, including exact routings, please refer to the CATA Game Day Shuttles schedule brochures available on CATA buses, visit the CATA website or call (814) 238-CATA (2282).

"Please note that several of CATA's routes will be on detour while traveling through Campus starting approximately three hours prior to all home game start times until one hour after each game ends. These detours result from the fact that CATA will not have access to Fox Hollow Road between the Village at Penn State to Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center, or on Campus from the corner of Curtin and Bigler Roads to Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center. Additional routing detours can be found on the CATA website, by clicking on "Rider Alerts."

Labor Day:

"For the convenience of its riders who rely on CATA for their transportation needs, CATA's CATABUS routes (both community routes and the LOOP and LINK) and CATARIDE services will operate on their Sunday Full Service schedules on Monday, September 3 (Labor Day).

"Both CATA offices will be closed. For exact routing and schedule information, please refer to the Fall 2012 Ride Guide available on all CATA buses and throughout the community, visit the CATA website or call (814) 238-CATA(2282)."
