CBICC to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Open House

A ribbon cutting ceremony will officially open the newly completed second floor on the Young Scholars of Central PA Charter School at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. 

The event will be held at the school, located at 1530 Westerly Parkway in State College, on the corner of Blue Course Road and Westerly Parkway and is sponsored by the Chamber of Business and Industry Centre County (CBICC).

According to a news release, seven new classrooms were added over the summer to accomodate middle school students.

The mission of the charter school, per the news release, is to teach students to be life-long learners and prepare them for a global economy.

"Our tuition-free school offers a rigorous curriculum in a fun and interactive environment, emphasizing world cultures. YSCP provides education to about 240 students in grades kindergarten to eighth grade. Students attend from the school districts of State College, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, Centre Hall, Philipsburg, Tyrone and surrounding communities," the news release stated.
