The Central Pennsylvania Festival of Arts has been pulling in big crowds for decades. But not everyone is an expert at getting around. We've put together an Arts Fest primer, with links to everything you need to know as the 2013 Arts Fest gets rocking.

As in years past, the 100 block of South Allen Street has been turned into a pedestrian mall that connects the campus section of the festival to the downtown area. Click HERE to see our live camera of South Allen Street. Rick Bryant, the the Arts Fest's director, says artist booths are set up on Allen Street, Fairmount Avenue, Fraser Street and Nittany Avenue. On campus, exhibits are set up along Pollock Road, Burrowes Street and the Old Main Mall. StateCollege.com has put together a really cool visual tour to help you explore. Musical acts will perform on three stages located at Sidney Friedman Park, South Allen Street and on the Old Main lawn. The Italian Street Painting Festival will be set up in the 100 block of Hiester Street.

Programs and performances will be hosted by the State Theatre, Penn State Downtown Theatre, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and State College Presbyterian Church. Click HERE to see our complete schedule of festival events.

Bryant said that banners usually hang over the festival route courtesy of West Penn Power. However the company has been so busy with power outages caused by recent storms their late getting the banners up.

Bryant advises those new to Arts Fest to park at the Beaver Stadium and take a bus downtown. “Parking can be a challenge, but it’s worth it."

Festival-goers can also buy an Arts Fest button for $10 at any informational booth. The button gets people into all of the festival’s indoor shows for free and since there are about 10 indoor shows, Byrant says “it’s the best deal.”
