Centre County Adds 37 COVID-19 Cases

Centre County reported 37 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 3,687 since the first was confirmed in March, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The county also had 312 new negative test results. A total of 33,339 patients in Centre County have tested negative for the virus.

According to DOH data, 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized at Mount Nittany Medical Center, with one requiring use of a ventilator. On Friday, the hospital reported it had 11 COVID-19 patients ranging in age between 52 and 92 and was continuing to operate under its surge capacity plan.

Statewide, the health department reported 1,857 new positives, increasing Pennsylvania's total to 180,943. It was the state's highest single-day total since April 9 and second highest to date.

There were 16,806 new negative test results statewide on Saturday. A total of 2,119,850 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for the virus.

An estimated 80% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation. 

Across Pennsylvania, 847 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 92 requiring use of a ventilator.

The health department reported nine new COVID-19 deaths statewide, bringing the Pennsylvania's total at 8,466. DOH has reported a total of 15 deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, the most recent on Friday. The coroner's office has confirmed 11, ranging in age from 74 to 101.

Most COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been among patients 65 and older, according to DOH.

Among Pennsylvania's total cases, 173,850 are confirmed and 7,093 are probable. In Centre County, 3,588 are confirmed and 99 are probable.

Among Centre County's bordering counties, Blair now has 1,003 [+23] total cases, Union has 636 [+2], Huntingdon has 675 [+35], Clearfield has 389 [+4], Mifflin has 313 [+12] and Clinton has 237 [+2].
