Among Saturday's new cases, 71 are confirmed and two are probable. In the State College and University Park zip codes, there were 66 new positives.

Since Sept. 1, Centre County has added 644 new COVID-19 cases, 158 more than the months of March through August combined. The vast majority of new cases have been in the State College and University Park zip codes and most have been connected to testing of Penn State students. There were 11,972 new negative test results statewide. A total of 1,664,000 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for the virus.

An estimated 82% of COVID-19 patients in the state — about 117,920 — have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

Across Pennsylvania, 470 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 63 requiring use of a ventilator.

The health department reported 25 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the state's total at 7,862. DOH has reported 11 total COVID-19 deaths for Centre County, the most recent on Aug. 14. The coroner's office has confirmed only seven, ranging in age from 74 to 96.

Most COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been among patients 65 and older, according to DOH.
