Centre County Reports 4 New COVID-19 Cases

Centre County added four new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing its total to 176 since the first was reported on March 20.

In the past two weeks, the county has added 22 new cases of the virus. 

Total nursing home cases in the county remained unchanged on Friday, with 23 among residents and 14 among employees at two facilities.

Statewide, there have been 80,762 total cases, including 526 new positives reported on Friday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The health department also reported 38 new deaths attributed to the virus, increasing the state's total to 6,399. Centre County has had six COVID-19 deaths, the most recent on May 27. 

An estimated 77 percent of patients with the virus — or about 62,187 — have recovered, according to DOH.

Among Pennsylvania's total cases, 78,451 are confirmed and 2,311 are probable. In Centre County, 167 are confirmed and nine are probable.

Centre County's confirmed cases by zip code are (increase since yesterday in parentheses):

16823 (Bellefonte): 42 (+1) 

16801 (State College): 37 (+2)

16803 (State College): 36 (+1)

16827 (Boalsburg): 10

16870 (Port Matilda): 9

16841 (Howard): 5

16865 (Pennsylvania Furnace), 16828 (Centre Hall), 16866 (Philipsburg), 16844 (Julian), 16875 (Spring Mills), 16852 (Madisonburg) and 16872 (Rebersburg) each have 1-4 cases. Specific numbers are not provided for zip codes with fewer than five cases. 

Among bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 240 cases, Union has 84, Clinton has 67, Clearfield has 63, Mifflin has 61 and Blair has 56.

A total of 556,456 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 3,363 people in Centre County. Across the state,  728 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 162 requiring use of a ventilator as of noon on Friday.
