The Centre Foundation has announced its competitive fall 2012 grant cycle and encourages local nonprofits to apply.

Applications are due Tuesday, Oct. 30, and can be completed online at Centre-Foundation.org.

The foundation is targeting organizations with projects having to do with Penns Valley, mental health, hearing impairments, seeing-eye dogs or patriotic observances to apply during this cycle, "in order to utilize monies available through field-of-interest funds," according to a press release.

The Centre Foundation's summer competitive granting cycle awarded more than $23,000 to local nonprofits. Earlier in the year the foundation distributed a $10,000 grant to Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania through its Anniversary Circle and sponsored Centre Gives, which raised more than $415,000 for 74 local nonprofits on top of an additional $100,000 match provided by the foundation.

Since 1981, the Centre Foundation has awarded more than $7 million in grants to more than 250 local organizations, the press release said.

Anyone seeking additional information is asked to contact Erin Rowley, Program Assistant, at (814) 237-6229 or erin@centre-foundation.org.
