Centre Gives Fundraiser Kicks Off Tuesday

The third annual Centre Gives fundraiser -- a 36-hour online giving event that benefits nonprofits in Centre County – kicks off Tuesday.

From midnight Tuesday to noon Wednesday every donation made HERE will go directly to local nonprofits and will also be matched by funds from the Centre Foundation.

Centre Foundation will provide $100,000 in pro-rated matching fund grants. The minimum donation amount is $25; for any single gift greater than $10,000, only the first $10,000 will be considered for matching funds.

Eligible groups, which the Centre Foundation pre-approved, include nonprofit organizations that serve Centre County from a local or home office, are 501(c)(3) organizations registered with the IRS, and are required to file a 990 are eligible to participate in Centre Gives.

"Centre Gives is a catalyst for the 96 participating non-profits to raise their own funds and community awareness," says Molly Kunkel, executive director of the Centre Foundation. "Centre Gives benefits 96 local organizations, bringing energy and excitement across Centre County to support our entire community."

Credit or debit card donations received during the 36-hour period will be eligible for the pro-rated match for this event. Cash or check donations cannot be accepted.

Credit card and debit card processing fees will be three percent and will be deducted from the total amount raised. Each gift is tax-deductible and irrevocable.

The funds will be distributed to nonprofit groups roughly one month after the event.
