Children’s Matinee to Kick Off Central PA Theatre and Dance Fest

by on June 21, 2018 3:17 PM

The Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop will present a family-friendly children's matinee adventure to kick off of the new Central PA Theatre and Dance Fest at 11 a.m. on Friday.

The adventure begins at the State Theatre in State College with CPDW's Children's Ensemble, made up of dancers ages 6 to 16, dancing a performance of the beloved musical story "Peter and the Wolf." Audience members then will have the opportunity to join the dancers on the stage for photos.

Following the performance, there will be a themed picnic lunch prepared by Webster's Cafe in the nearby Martin Luther King Plaza, including "Wolf Face" focaccia pizza, "Meadow" salad and more.

The adventure concludes at CPDW's newly renovated dance studio on Fraser Street for a “Peter and the Wolf” character dance class, during which both children and adults are welcome to dance alongside the performers and learn dances inspired by the show's characters.

Ticket options and packages are available at the State Theatre Box office and online

The Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop is a nonprofit educational institution located in State College. Its mission is to provide a cultural and creative experience for children and adults through the study of dance and share the experience of dance through education and performance to the community, especially to those who may not have access to it.

With 105 free and ticketed events, the inaugural Central PA Theatre and Dance Fest will take place Friday through Sunday at locations around downtown State College
