Initial report, posted @ 10:26 a.m. Feb. 13:

Judge John M. Cleland has denied a prosecution request for a non-Centre County jury in the Jerry Sandusky criminal case.

The ruling, issued Monday morning, follows a Friday hearing that focused in part on that motion.

"The presumption should be in favor of at least making an effort to select a fair and impartial jury in the county where the defendant has been charged," Cleland wrote.

Cleland also ruled Monday that Sandusky will be allowed visitation with his grandchildren while he's under house arrest. Additionally, Sandusky will be allowed to visit with a select number of friends and to travel with his legal team as it prepares a defense, Cleland ruled.

Sandusky, a former Penn State football coach charged with 52 criminal counts in a child-sexual-abuse case, has maintained that he is innocent. He lives in College Township.
