Community Spotlight: Camp Golden Pond

on June 10, 2020 6:26 PM

Camp Golden Pond is a 55-acre retreat in Petersburg. Normally, the camp is utilized by scout and other youth organizations for summer camps. Since all the large group events the camp would normally host are canceled, the camp is available to the general public. We have a variety of rustic cabins, lodges, and permanent tent structures able to accommodate any level of outdoor skill. While we miss all our scouts, we are happy to help your family plan their outdoor retreat.

In 1988 Hemlock Girl Scout Council dedicated Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond “with the hope that Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond will be a source of fun and fond memories for Girl Scouts for many generations.” In 2018, Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA sold the camp to a timber company. The camp is now operated by Friends of Golden Pond, a public charity dedicated to keeping this amazing resource available to the public. Currently, Friends of Golden Pond is working on raising $600,000 in order to finalize the purchase of the property so that it can continue to serve our area for generations to come.
