Community Spotlight: OLLI at Penn State

on May 16, 2020 5:00 AM

With our community facing numerous challenges because of the coronavirus pandemic, we are inviting any Centre County business, nonprofit organization or agency to share their stories in briefs which we will publish at no charge here on StateCollege.com. Share what you'd like the community to know — what services you're offering, challenges your facing, what you've brought to the area over the years or anything else. More details here.

OLLI at Penn State

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State is turning necessary COVID-19 restrictions into new learning and social opportunities online! OLLI at Penn State is a membership organization offering affordable courses, trips and social activities geared toward adults who are 50 years and older. While in-person classes, events and trips at the University Park and York campus locations are on hold due to social distancing, classes and social experiences continue online.

During this time, OLLI’s staff and volunteers are focused on three guiding principles: stay in touch with members to keep them informed and engaged; focus on learning by providing prerecorded and live programing; and keep members connected with each other to ensure the OLLI community and network continue to thrive.

During the summer semester, online classes include Vermeer and His Contemporaries: Dutch Interiors and their Paintings and Post-Impressionism; virtual excursions include Glacier National Park, the Canadian Rockies and South America; learn about the Roosevelt Presidential Library, the history of the Cooke Tavern and more.

Classes begin on June 15; registration opens June 1. For more information and to register, visit olli.psu.edu or call 814-867-4278.
