Local artist Michael Pilato will unveil his newest mural Saturday morning in downtown State College.
The artwork, dedicated to survivors of sexual abuse, will be a key part of a public "Art for Healing" event sponsored by the Centre County Women's Resource Center. Billed as a community-building, community-healing gathering, it will include guest speakers Mayor Elizabeth Goreham; Anne Ard, the executive director of the Women's Resource Center; and Pilato.
"Native American elder David Manyfights, of the Lenape Tribe, will lead the community in a traditional smudging ritual of purification to offer healing and peace to State College," a news release reads.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. at Heister Street and Calder Way.
