State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, is headed back to the Pennsylvania House for a seventh term representing the 77th District.

For the second consecutive time, Conklin ran unopposed for the seat representing State College, Ferguson Township (partial), Patton Township (partial), Huston Township, Philipsburg and Rush Township. With 80 percent of precincts reporting on Tuesday, he had received 8,227 votes.

The former Centre County commissioner was first elected to the office in 2006 when he won the race to replace Republican Lynn Hermann, who had held the seat from 1983 until retiring prior to the 2006 election.

Conklin has been minority chair of the House Children and Youth Committee since 2017 and most recently introduced legislation to strengthen reporting requirements and penalties in the wake of a grand jury's report alleging decades of sexual abuse in 6 Roman Catholic Church dioceses.

Prior to his election to the state House, he ran a carpentry business from 1989 to 2007. He and his wife, Terri, own Conklin's Corner Antique Mall in Philipsburg.
